New Marlins ownership partner Derek Jeter posts letter to Miami fans

New Marlins ownership partner Derek Jeter posts letter to Miami fans”

Despite his heroics as the captain of the New York Yankess, Jeter said he always wanted to be a baseball owner and is ready to dive into the job and be a hands-on owner.

In a Tuesday post on his website, The Players' Tribune, Jeter repeated the message, saying, "We're going to develop a winning culture".

Jeter has about a four percent ownership stake in the Marlins and will be the head of baseball and business operations.

"To Miami, we believe in this market".

The deal will be officially announced at a news conference at 11 a.m. ET on Tuesday. "I'm just so excited about the opportunity with an icon like Derek as CEO of the Marlins is a great experience we're all looking forward to achieving together".

"I was only 17 and Miami was the farthest I'd ever been from home", Jeter said. Everything about Miami was different and exciting. "I've lost for seven years", Stanton told FanRag Sports last Friday, on a weekend when he could have broken Roger Maris's mark of 61 home runs in a season.

"One thing really jumped out at me". But to this day I still remember how it felt. "The music, the weather, the diversity - I remember how alive Miami was". "It was the way people talked about Miami - with such a sense of pride".

"The way I see it, doing things the right way, over and over, leads to sustained success", Jeter wrote. "I'm not just talking about wins and losses-winning games is very important to everyone-but also about developing a winning culture throughout the organization".

For starters, Jeter wants everyone to know that Miami is pretty cool.

He also said that fans can expect to hear the terms community, culture, communication and patience a lot.

There has been speculation that the new owners would want to start from scratch and dump most of the Marlins current players in order to rebuild the farm system. "But our ownership group is focused on building a team that this community can be proud of".

The purchase price for the Marlins was a cool $1.2 billion, netting former owner Jeffrey Loria with a nice profit after he purchased the team in 2002 for $158 million. "It's been draining at times" (yeah, you're telling us). "Let's have some fun - it's the Miami way".
