Case filed against actor Prakash Raj after criticising PM Modi

Case filed against actor Prakash Raj after criticising PM Modi”

National award-winning actor Prakash Raj may have got the likes and the spotlight he was looking for, but criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi without proof may come at a price. The complaint has been lodged by a lawyer.

This comes two days after, Prakash Raaj called PM Modi "a bigger actor" while speaking at the 11th annual convention of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) in Bengaluru. As a citizen of this country, I have the right to question PM Modi.

Raj had used a careful selection of words to target PM Modi since a direct accusation could have led to the framing of defamation case against him. This is a crude form of attack and its sole goal is to malign PM Modi's image. In my life, I have never seen so much abuse like what happens on social media.

Now Prakash Raj has given a formal explanation on the whole issue, "All I could do is laugh when I see these scrolls in Television channels". Give me some respect.

Soon after his speech, reports emerged that the actor wanted to give away his national awards in protest against the killing of veteran journalist Gauri Lankesh. The actor, rubbishing such reports, clarified saying, "Well I can just laugh at the crawling on the news channel that Prakash Raj has chose to give back his national awards. It has been given to me for my body of work, which I am very proud of".

Raj has won five National Awards - Best Supporting Actor for Iruvar (1997, Tamil), Special Jury Award for Anthapuram (1999, Telugu), Special Jury Award for various movies, Best Actor for Kanchivaram (2007, Tamil), and Best Film for Puttakkana Highway (2010, Kannada).
