Natalee Holloway Disappearance: New Human Remains Don't Belong To Missing Teen”

The discovery of the bone fragments was the main premise of the Oxygen series, which aired its finale on September 23, a week before the forensic scientist's announcement.

DNA tests on skeletal remains found in Aruba found the bone fragments are not those of Natalee Holloway. Though she was officially declared dead in 2012, her body was never found and nobody was ever charged with killing her.

Only one of the four bone samples found were determined to be human. "The mitochodrial DNA bone sample was not a match to [mother] Beth Holloway, and so it was ruled out as being Natalee Holloway", Dr. Jason Kolowski told Oxygen following the end of the network's "The Disappearance of Natalee Holloway". The identity and gender of the person whose remains they actually were is still unknown.

The forensic scientist had previously told Oxygen that the remains were "human, and they are of Caucasian, European descent".

Acting on new information, her dad, Dave Holloway and private eye T.J. Ward, have been working the case for the past 18 months.

John Ludwick - a friend of the Dutchman - claimed he was paid $1,500 in 2010 to help dig up Natalee's bones and crush them into dust, then cremate them with dog bones to cover up the crime.

"We don't know how old that person is".

Natalee Holloway, left, stands with her father, Dave Holloway, in 2005.

Joran van der Sloot, shown here in court in Lima, Jan. 13, 2012, remains the primary suspect in Natalee Holloway's disappearance. "I thought, you know, there may be something to this".

Van der Sloot was never charged in the case and is now serving a 28-year prison sentence in Peru for a murder he committed five years to the day after Natalee Holloway disappeared.

The teen was last seen with Joran van der Sloot outside a tourist bar.
