Oracle to add AI capabilities to cloud apps

Oracle to add AI capabilities to cloud apps”

During the Oracle OpenWorld event, the company announced that it will be adding its AI-powered capabilities to the bulk of its cloud applications, including Enterprise Resource Planning Cloud, Human Capital Management Cloud, Supply Chain Management Cloud, as well as the Oracle Customer Experience Cloud applications.

"The way to prevent data theft is more automation", Oracle co-founder and CTO Larry Ellison said at the OpenWorld conference in San Francisco on Tuesday.

The announcement comes two days after Ellison introduced the next version of Oracle's mainstay database, which he said will completely automate tasks such as making security patches and recovering data deleted by ransomware. With no more scope for human error or requirements for human performance testing, the company is able to minimise costly planned and unplanned downtime to less than 30 minutes a year and guarantee that organisations can cut their costs in half compared to Amazon.

A silver level member of the Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN), MapR says it's data technologies platform will enable a unified operational and analytic data service for Oracle Cloud customers. "The system will direct the database to patch itself, or if it's a different kind of asset, to run a script to remediate an asset that can not protect itself".

Machine learning technologies will be used to detect normal patterns in the data, and take programmed actions when an anomaly is identified, in real-time, such as changing a password or turning on 2FA if a person's behaviour is unusual. "You get into the plane, you tell it where you want to go and it flies you there". "This is the most important thing we have done in a long, long time". The cyber defense system is not yet fully autonomous, as the database is, Ellison said. He also demonstrated how companies can integrate core elements of the Oracle stack to transform business, such as building next-generation applications with built-in Blockchain capabilities. For instance, today the company took the wraps off the latest version of its enterprise database platform, Oracle Exadata X7. It also provides end-to-end smart software for managing the performance of applications across database servers, networking, and storage.

Oracle is introducing Universal Credits, the industry's most flexible buying and consumption model for cloud services.

The Oracle Cloud Marketplace is a one-stop shop for Oracle customers seeking trusted business applications and service providers offering unique business solutions, including ones that extend Oracle Cloud Applications.

With Universal Credits, customers have one simple contract that provides unlimited access to all current and future Oracle PaaS and IaaS services, spanning Oracle Cloud and Oracle Cloud at Customer. "With Oracle Cloud, MapR can quickly and efficiently address the growing needs of its customers with support for Oracle's state-of-the-art cloud platform".

Interestingly, Ellison chose to define Oracle's forthcoming efforts by saying they're not what one would expect from Splunk.
