Vast majority of NBA GMs think Warriors will win it all again

Vast majority of NBA GMs think Warriors will win it all again”

GMs voted Oklahoma City as the team that made the best overall moves in the offseason; Thunder GM Sam Presti acquired George by sending out Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis and acquired Anthony by sending Enes Kanter, Doug McDermott and a 2018 second-round pick to NY.

The annual survey of NBA general managers conducted by NBA.com's John Schumann is here again, and the results aren't exactly surprising. The percentages shown are purely based on the pool of respondents who answered that particular question, rather than a total from the 30 polled executives. There are many candidates for the award namely: LeBron James, Kevin Durant, James Harden, Russell Westbrook etc.

In the league's annual GM survey, 93 percent of those who responded say the Warriors will win the National Basketball Association title this season. Seven percent said the Cavs would win it all. He is also the player to most likely have a breakout season. He averaged just 3.8 points and 2.4 assists per game in 78 appearances with the Minnesota Timberwolves. New York's Kristaps Porzingis came in second with 14 percent of the vote. No. 1 overall pick Markelle Fultz did not make the list, although he did tie for second with Boston's Jayson Tatum in the "which rookie will be the best player in five years" category, tailing only Phoenix's Josh Jackson.

Popovich also finished first in voting for the coach with the best defensive schemes.

GMs chose George as the new offseason acquisition likely to have the biggest impact, and Denver's signing of Paul Millsap was voted as the most underrated player acquisition.

Kawhi came into the league as a player who could defend but had minimal offensive repertoire other than his athleticism. James, incredibly, finished a narrow third in that category despite the fact that he'll turn 33 years old during the regular season. Given his NBA-ready tools and the heavy minutes he will play in LA, it's no surprise that the second overall pick is one of the favorites to win the coveted award.
