Theresa May heckled, interrupted during speech”

Theresa May, is not considering resigning, Sky news reported on Thursday, citing her Downing Street office.

However, a Downing Street source said that Mrs May's schedule was a "fact of conference", adding: "It's similar to what she did previous year".

To add to the struggling politician's woes, the letters from the slogan on stage behind May started falling off during the end of her speech.

Video:Comedian explains: 'It was a P45 of course!'

The Prime Minister had been hoping for something of a relaunch at Tory conference after she suffered a blow to her leadership when she lost her majority in June's election. After announcing Theresa May would be his successor, former Prime Minister David Cameron was heard humming a familiar theme tune...

As he was escorted out, May's cough worsened and she began to have difficulty speaking. It will compound numerous views that they already have for her.

She took a more personal tone - saying she did not mind being called the "Ice Maiden" and describing her "great sadness" at not having children.

May abruptly stopped her keynote speech to take the P45 while Brodkin made a scene, waving to Boris Johnson, the foreign secretary, who is accused of plotting to overthrow the PM. She didn't look at ease delivering a speech to the attendant masses and must have been painfully aware of her supposed challenger for the party leadership, Boris Johnson, hanging on her every word.

Yet it's not the first time Number 10 was influenced by The West Wing.

And another backbencher, Gary Streeter, tweeted: "At horse of year show".

Critics have insisted there should be an urgent review into how anyone got so close to the PM.

And business minister Margot James blamed "embittered" ex-ministers for any plotting against Mrs May.

A senior Conservative source said: "The public are far more brutal about these things".

Closing the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester, May acknowledged that while the boom in the housing market had benefited some, "for many, the chance of getting onto the housing ladder has become a distant dream".
