Florida executes man convicted of 2 killings”

Despite a last-minute push to save the life of a Florida man on death-row, Michael Lambrix was put to death Thursday night, according to the Associated Press. Prosecutors said he killed the pair outside his trailer near LaBelle, northeast of Fort Myers. WLRN reports that days before his execution in an interview with reporters, he insisted that the state of Florida was "going to be deliberately putting to death an innocent person". The state has had a long debate about the death penalty, but executions have resumed after the U.S. Supreme Court previously declared Florida's sentencing process to be unconstitutional.

The jury wasn't unanimous in either of Lambrix's death sentence decisions, but Florida's Supreme Court has said the new rules don't apply to cases as old as his.

Thursday night, Attorney General Pam Bondi announced all stays were denied and the execution moved forward as planned.

Lambrix, 57, has been on Death Row for 34 years.

Lambrix said Moore assaulted and killed Bryant.
