Poll Shows Trump Dipping to 32 Percent Approval”

The latest Associated Press/NORC poll found that just 32 percent of Americans approved of Trump's handling of disaster relief for victims of recent hurricanes "in U.S. territories, including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands", while 49 percent disapproved. While 67 percent of Republicans still approve of the job the president is doing, support among Republicans has decreased significantly since March when 80 percent of Republicans expressed approval. But a slide in Republican approval could spell big trouble for Trump, who has maintained popularity among his GOP base even as he alienates most of the rest of the country.

The poll also asked Americans about their views on President Trump.

Trump's ratings on Maria seem to be sliding as more Americans form an opinion on the subject. His approval rating is down from 42 percent in March and 35 percent in June.

He is by far the least popular president at this point in a first term since modern polling began.

Roughly 31 percent said they approved of the protest, and the same number approves of Trump's call.

Additionally, just 24% of Americans think the country is moving in the right direction, only 26% think Trump is a strong leader, and 23% think he is honest.

The poll was conducted from September 28 to October 2, and included online and telephone interviews.
