Spain qualify for 11th consecutive World Cup

Spain qualify for 11th consecutive World Cup”

Spain become the tenth side to book their Russian Federation 2018 ticket, following on from Germany and England, who secured their World Cup spots on Thursday after topping Group C and Group F, respectively.

Spain sealed their place in next year's World Cup with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Albania, while Iceland are on the verge of their first finals after recording a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Turkey in Istanbul.

La Roja ensured qualification for next year's event in Russian Federation by winning 3-0 at home to Albania in Alicante.

Their qualification was confirmed, after Italy could manage only a 1-1 draw at home to Macedonia.

Spain scored all their goals within 26 minutes, Rodrigo netting a fine close-range effort before Isco's fourth goal in three worldwide matches and Thiago Alcantara's header made the game safe.

The victor of each group in the UEFA World Cup qualifiers secures a spot in the 2018 World Cup Finals in Russian Federation, while the eight best runner-ups across all groups will advance to a playoff to determine their fates.

Spain, along with Belgium, Germany and England are the only European nations to have booked their berth for Russian Federation but with one qualifier remaining, plenty of other names will be added to the list in the next couple of days.
