THE WALKING DEAD Creator Robert Kirkman Reveals His New Apocalyptic Comic”

Happening ten years after the sudden appearance of the new dimension, the Oblivion, the comic book has Cole on a mission to uncover the secrets of the dimension while Earth has chose to move on while Philadelphia becomes desolate and filled with monsters. Well after three long years he's back AND he has a new story for us to fall in love with!

Could Oblivion Song end up on television like Outcast, another of Mr. Kirkman's comic books, which became a Cinemax series? The official synopsis is as follows...

Via Entertainment Weekly, Kirkman revealed that the premise of Oblivion Song revolves around a disaster in Philadelphia that sent 300,000 people into a hellish alternate dimension known as Oblivion. The government made every attempt to recover them but after many years they gave up. Nathan Cole... won't. He makes daily trips, risking his life to try and rescue the lost, alone and afraid, living in the apocalyptic hellscape of Oblivion. But maybe... Is Nathan looking for something else? Now, he hopes to break new ground with Oblivion Song. That series, published by Image, has inspired video games, toys and other merchandise in addition to the TV show. Obviously with this track record, I think it's safe to assume we will see this new series receive some form of film/TV treatment in the future.

According to CBR, Oblivion Song has been in production for more than a year, and several issues are already filed away for publication.

"Just the thought of this very real, very engaged situation that's happening that we're all aware of but we don't necessarily see and we don't necessarily interact with it on a regular basis, and so this was a cool way to kind of explore how much we as a people can kind of turn our backs to and ignore, and how bad that is and how hard it is to deal with", Kirkman said. Check out the cover below, and look for more information about the series as SYFY WIRE's coverage of New York Comic-Con (where Kirkman is set to appear on a panel) continues throughout the weekend.
