Donald Trump faces financial setback: Scottish Golf resorts suffer heavy losses

Donald Trump faces financial setback: Scottish Golf resorts suffer heavy losses”

In June, Eric Trump opened a second course at Turnberry.

His company said the losses at Turnberry were in part due to its six-month closure for renovation work. The latest account statement of his golf courses indicates that the Menie Estate development in Aberdeenshire and Turnberry in Ayrshire have suffered losses of £1.4 and £ 17.6 million respectively.

The business also claimed that it lost 8 million pounds, or $10 million, over the fluctuating value of the British pound previous year. The accounts show that revenue at the two courses fell by 21 per cent to £9 million in 2016 from £11.4 million the year before.

On the other hand, in the recently submitted financial report, Eric, son of Donald Trump expressed his confidence in bringing things back on track.

The Trump Organization blamed the mounting losses in the report on having to shut down one resort for half a year while building a new golf course and updating an older one, according to the report.

Donald Trump, who was inaugurated as the 45th President of the United States of America in January, has a strong connection with Scotland. Trump's company has faced several setbacks since it ventured into Scotland a dozen years ago.

His mother, Mary MacLeod, was born on the Isle of Lewis in 1912, to Malcolm MacLeod, a fisherman, and his wife, also called Mary.
