Bhubaneswar Met office said, the upper air cyclonic circulation over North Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood has formed into a low pressure area over the bay and adjoining south Bangladesh. Thereafter, it turned into a well-marked low pressure area during the early morning hours of Monday, which quickly turned into a depression around 11 am. Slow traffic movements were reported from some parts of the city including the EM Bypass, NSC Bose Road and Commissariat Road.Bad weather has also hit the Kolkata airport with several in-bound flights diverted and delay in out-bound flights.

Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rain in Odisha today, under influence of a low pressure over North Bay of Bengal.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into sea along and off Odisha coast.

Subsequently, with system shifting northwestwards, the intensity of rains will increase over parts of Jharkhand but the rains will gradually reduce over Gangetic West Bengal.

Meanwhile, rainfall occurred at a few places in the State with heavy rainfall recorded over south interior Odisha.

A string of thunderstorms has been forecast to hover over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathawada, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
