Seagate announces 12TB BarraCuda Pro, IronWolf and IronWolf Pro HDDs

Seagate announces 12TB BarraCuda Pro, IronWolf and IronWolf Pro HDDs”

Network Attached Storage (NAS) users meanwhile can look forward to the IronWolf and IronWolf Pro hard drives.

The 12TB BarraCuda Pro is designed for desktop users, being touted as the "fastest, highest-capacity and most reliable hard drive" that consumers can get right now. Seagate sees a solution with the Seagate BarraCuda Pro 12TB hard drive - the largest and fastest disk drive on the market now. The 12TB drives are great for creative professionals who require a lot of space to store content such as 4K footage.

"Our storage hungry customers and partners continue to ask for our latest and greatest technology along with increased capacity and performance in our objective built products", says Seagate Technology senior vice president of Business Marketing Matt Rutledge. 'With the 12TB Pro products, Seagate buyers are overcoming capacity constraints in their systems and can access vast amounts of digital data anytime, from anywhere'. The Ultrastar HS14 carries a five-year warranty and a 2.5-million hour MTBF rating; more information is available on the official product page. The 12TB IronWolf and IronWolf Pro bring the same GIANT STORAGE to network attached storage devices, along with reliability and performance, making it ideal for creatives and small businesses. The way in which the drives function differs in a PC and NAS.

Both IronWolf drives support Seagate's IronWolf Health Management (IHM), which specific NAS units from Synology, QNAP, and Asustor will leverage to allow users to carefully monitor drive health and action recovery options in the event of failure. Created to operate on enabled Synology DiskStation NAS, Asustor NAS, and QNAP NAS, populated with Seagate IronWolf or IronWolf Pro drives, IHM improves the overall system reliability by displaying actionable prevention, intervention or recovery options for the user and will be available within the next quarter with NAS partners.

The IronWolf drives are for home and small business NAS (IronWolf) and commercial and enterprise NAS (IronWolf Pro). The IronWolf drive meanwhile supports sustained data transfer rate of 210MB/s and the IronWolf Pro 12TB has a sustained transfer rate of 250MB/s.
