Source says Harvey Weinstein to be suspended”

Senator Patrick Leahy, a Democrat from Vermont, said he would be giving away the US$5,600 (S$7,650) Weinstein donated to his re-election campaign over the years.

- Sen. Al Franken, D-Minn., will give contributions from Weinstein, including those to his political action committee, to the Minnesota Indian Women's Resource Center, spokesman Ed Shelleby said. "I'll stand up to him, but if I'm a 23-year-old in his workplace, of course, they're intimidated".

Bloom's work for Weinstein had drawn criticism in some quarters since her firm usually defends women in such cases.

'I believe you' Oscar-winner Brie Larson responded to the allegations by saying she stood "with the courageous survivors of sexual assault and harassment... as always".

"As Harvey has said, it is important for him to get professional help for the problems he has acknowledged".

The allegations of harassment against Weinstein, which reach back decades, were revealed in an investigation by The New York Times published Thursday. "Though I'm trying to do better, I know I have a long way to go", Mr. Weinstein said of the claims. He's big, loud guy.

It's been four decades since Harvey Weinstein, a young man from a hardscrabble NY background who carried with him a passion for movies, burst onto the creative scene.

She also said she is glad the women came forward.

"But I applaud their courage to come forward and support them all 100%". What do you do if you have behaved badly for 30 years?

"You have to understand, yes, I'm here as his adviser". Bloom asked. "Are you going to continue or are you going to start a different approach?"

Trade publication Variety said the board of directors of the Weinstein Company would meet by yesterday evening to decide whether he would helm the company.

"This is a vendetta, and the next time I see [NYT executive editor] Dean Baquet it will be across a courtroom", he is quoted as saying by the Page Six website.

Bloom said that in regard to "a lot of the allegations, there are witnesses who say this did not happen".

Weinstein has vowed to sue The Times claiming the article was "saturated with false and defamatory statements".

- Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., reportedly plans to give $7,800 to the New Jersey Coalition Against Sexual Assault, the Post reported.
