Prosecution in Jong-nam trial to present footage of practice attacks”

Doan and Indonesian Siti Aisyah are charged with murdering the estranged half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un as he waited to board a flight to Macau at a Kuala Lumpur airport on February 13.

The eighth prosecution witness when explaining the lethal potential of VX, said the concentration of the deadly VX nerve agent found on the skin of Jong Nam was 1.4 times the lethal dosage.

VX (nerve agent) poison as well as its precursor and degradation elements were discovered on the clothing items of both murder accused Siti Aisyah, 25, and Doan Thi Huong, 29, the trial revealed. Kim died on the way to the hospital.

Asked if the VX concentrate found on Kim's face was enough to kill him, Raja said: "I can't give a direct answer on this".

North Korea denies any assassination plot. After the elevator doors opened, the group still did not leave for almost another minute, the report said.

Indonesian Siti Aisyah who is on trial for the killing of Kim Jong-am, the estranged half-brother of North Korea's leader, leaves the Department of Chemistry in Petaling Jaya October 9, 2017. The network also broadcast another security video that it said shows one of the accused women, Indonesian Siti Aisyah, meeting with a man believed to be a North Korean agent at an airport cafe shortly before the attack took place.

Vietnamese Doan Thi Huong, left, is escorted by police as she arrives in court in Kuala Lumpur.

Government chemist Raja Subramaniam spent more than an hour showing evidence contaminated with VX nerve agent in a small room at a government chemistry department in Malaysia.

A sign shows images of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, right, and his older brother Kim Jong-nam during a campaign to improve human rights condition in North Korea, in Seoul, South Korea last week.

Selvi said she was in the room along with Huong and two police officers, while the others watched through a glass screen outside the room.

The lawyer said Huong wanted to go into the room to have a closer look at the evidence, which included her fingernail clippings and the white jumper emblazoned with the "LOL" acronym for "laughing out loud" which she was seen wearing on airport surveillance video. That evidence was introduced in court in sealed bags, but the visit to the laboratory was arranged so the evidence from the women could be taken out of the bags for viewing.

The women have pleaded not guilty, saying they thought they were involved in some sort of prank for a reality TV show.

The murder charge under Section 302 of the Penal Code carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.

VX was also detected on the clothes both women wore the day of the attack.

In late March, Malaysia agreed to return Kim Jong Nam's body to North Korea in exchange for the release of Malaysian embassy staff and their families who had been stranded in Pyongyang as a result of the exit ban that was lifted.

Deputy public prosecutor Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin said the afternoon proceeding of the case was postponed to tomorrow as Raja, who was scheduled to continue his testimony, was not feeling well.
