Three Girls' Generation members to 'leave agency'

Three Girls' Generation members to 'leave agency'”

Three members of iconic K-pop group Girls' Generation will be leaving their agency after they decided not to renew their contracts.

Tiffany, Sooyoung and Seohyun will pursue their own careers following their decision not to sign new contracts with their long-time agency.

Along with group activities, members Taeyeon, Tiffany, Seohyun and Hyoyeon have also made headway in their solo careers, while other members have appeared on the small screen and on variety shows, contributing to the longevity of the group.

Girls Generation recently celebrated their 10th anniversary and honestly, this is quite an fantastic feat for any K-pop group because the collective fame and success of groups like this usually last no longer than five years.

It said: "The girls have thought a lot about resigning the contracts".

With the possible departure of the three members, it is unclear whether they will continue working with the idol group.

"I was excited about our upcoming fan events only to shockingly be informed by my company and 8 others that as of today, I'm no longer a member".

However, SM Entertainment remains optimistic and denied that Girls' Generation will disband.

The agency said in a statement, "Girls' Generation is a precious and meaningful group for both S.M. and fans", adding that the members are not considering disbandment at all and that it will carefully discuss the future of group with the remaining members. "We're not thinking about dismantling the group", the label told Yonhap News.

However, on September 30, 2014, Jessica Jung was removed from the group due to personal schedule conflicting with Girls' Generation's.

Back then, it was reported that Tiffany, 28, would leave for the USA to study acting, fueling talks that she would leave the group.
