Qatar says its hosting of World Cup 'not up for discussion'

Bahrain, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the UAE began their boycott of Qatar on June 5.

Emirati Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash yesterday followed up by writing on Twitter that Qatar's hosting of the games should "include a repudiation of policies supporting extremism & terrorism".

In a new assault against Qatar, embroiled in a diplomatic row with its Gulf neighbors, United Arab Emirates (UAE) Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash has attacked again Qatar saying that the future host of Federation Internationale de Football Association 2022 world cup tournament should abandon its support for terrorism if it wants to stage the event. Egypt, the Arab world's most populous state, also joined the boycott.

"Hosting World Cup 2022 should not be tainted by support of extremist individuals & (organisations)/ terrorist figures, review of Qatar's policies a must". "Doha should review its record".

Gargash's twitter attack is the second so far this week by an UAE official.

The controversial Qatar World Cup will take place November 21-Dec. In the run-up, Qatar is scheduled to host events across different sports aimed at improving infrastructure and expertise.

"The World Cup, like our sovereignty, is not up for discussion or negotiation".

Lobbying firms and interest groups funded by the boycotting Arab nations increasingly have focused on Qatar's hosting of the soccer tournament. On Sunday, though, the Deputy Chief of Police and Public Security in Dubai, Dhahi Khalfan, tweeted, "If the World Cup leaves Qatar, Qatar's crisis will be over... because the crisis is created to get away from it".

Qatar is the first Arab country to be chosen to host the FIFA World Cup.

The mistake in the translation of brother Dhahi Khalfan's tweet regarding Qatar's hosting of the World Cup has attracted the attention of the worldwide press; the hosting does not work out with a record in support of extremism and terrorism.
