SNES Classic Outsells The Nintendo Switch In Its First Week

SNES Classic Outsells The Nintendo Switch In Its First Week”

Nintendo's nostalgia-fuelled Super NES Classic has been out for less than two weeks, but it's already been hacked to add more games and custom backgrounds.

There are a number of videos on YouTube that should serve as a guide, and they show how it is possible to add some extra games to your console.

We don't have the time or the console to test this, but reports and videos say that the hack can let you add anywhere between 200 and 300 games to your console, which makes Nintendo's 21 look ridiculous.

You can find the full trademark application (in Japanese) on the Japanese Platform for Patent Information.

Unlike most of the deals listed on the site, the console will be sold at its usual retail price ($119), though we suppose you can't really expect a huge discount on an item that's in such high demand. When the firm brought out a new NES Classic Edition past year, it didn't take long for a Japanese hacker to introduce the ability to add more games. Both the NES Classic and the SNES Classic have been sellout hits upon launch, and it may well be that the company is looking to further delve into the retro device market after a new Game Boy trademark was filed.
