Has Apple enlisted LG for foldable iPhone display?”

Patently Apple posted a report back in December 2016 titled "Korean Report Wildly Speculates that LG is Working with Apple, Google & Microsoft to Deliver Foldable Devices by 2018".

Samsung, however, has an edge over Apple in terms of foldable smartphones.

"We expect Apple's major promotion of facial recognition related applications will encourage the Android camp to also dedicate more resources to developing hardware and facial recognition applications", Kuo wrote.

Korean publication The Bell, claims Apple has approached LG instead of Samsung Display, which produces the OLED screen for the new iPhone X, over fears that it could leak Apple's plans and screen technology to Samsung Electronics, which produces the Galaxy smartphone range. In fact, Apple is reportedly already working on its own foldable iPhone.

Meanwhile, Samsung is exclusively supplying panels for the latest iPhone X - the first OLED iPhone. Even with a two-year delay, Apple could actually deliver something even more impressive. of course, it won't be the world's first foldable handset, but the foldable iPhone could bring along something new. A photo that went up yesterday on Imgur shows the device in white packaging, while three other images on Reddit show the front and back of an iPhone X that appears black but is likely the color Apple calls "Space Gray".

That is if a new report from South Korea turns out to be accurate. The analyst explained that Apple's move to double down on the security feature is an attempt to drum up support for the new software.

According to the latest reports, Apple chose to work with LG on this project.

Samsung Display's been showing a foldable small OLED behind closed doors (the worst-kept secret in the industry) for years, and is set to launch a phone with the tech next year.

Firstly, this is the first time we're hearing about Apple planning for a product a few years in advance.
