MI mom jailed for not vaccinating son loses primary custody”

Rebecca Bredow, 40, served five days in Oakland County Jail for going against a judge's order to inoculate her son, the Detroit Free Press reported.

The court order stems from an earlier custody hearing where the boy's father said he wanted the vaccinations for the child. While Bredow was in jail, Horne took his son to the doctor to get vaccinated.

Bredow fought back tears as she discussed her jail stint and the rulings today.

A Friend of the Court referee, after reviewing the custody battle case, recommended that both parents, Bredow and Horne, get joint custody of their son.

A MI mother who spent five days in jail for refusing to vaccinate her son says she's outraged and devastated to find out the boy has been fully immunized now.

The Michigan mother who was sentenced to seven days in jail for not vaccinating her son has now lost primary custody of him.

On Monday, Horne had the vaccines administered, while the child was under his custody.

It's been a rough few days to say the least.

"You have seven days to get your child vaccinated", McDonald said on September 27. In previous court pleadings, she said that Bredow had consented to getting the shots, meaning her refusal to do so constituted contempt. Refusing to do so now equaled contempt of court.

The judge went on to list a series of things Bredow did without the dad's consent, saying "it's clear to me that you don't care about orders".

Bredow said that she could not bring herself to order the shots, while her attorney Vitale said that the pleadings McDonald referred to were filed in error by a previous attorney and that Bredow had never meant to consent to the vaccinations.
