Nubia Z17S launched in China: Price, specs and more

Chinese smartphone brand ZTE has today launched Nubia Z17S smartphone in China.

The Nubia Z17S comes with a bezel-less full-screen display, which has become a norm these days. Nearly every company is now coming out with a bezel-less smartphone - a trend that started with Xiaomi Mi MIX.

It comes with a 5.73-inch display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 2040 pixels and pixel density of 403ppi. There is Gorilla Glass on top, and the body is made of aviation-grade aluminum alloy. The emblematic red circle that was the home button is now implemented in the UI to make way for the taller display.

The smartphone is driven by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, clocked at 2.45GHz and topped with Adreno 540 GPU. The smartphone is available with either 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB of UFS 2.1 memory, or 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage space.

You may not remember this (and we can't blame you if that's the case), but ZTE subsidiary Nubia Technology was among the world's first few smartphone vendors to unveil a super-high-end model with relatively thin screen borders back in June. The front of the device houses a 16MP + 5MP front camera for selfies. While the main setup remains unchanged with the 12 MP + 23 MP combo, there are now two cameras on the front, both featuring 5 MP sensors. It comes with a layer of sapphire protection lens.

Furthermore, the camera is equipped with the new NeoVision 7.0 image engine. Its AI Portrait mode offers features like face recognition, edge processing, 3D beauty, level enhancement etc. On the front, there are two 5-megapixel camera sensors with f/2.2 aperture and an 80-degree wide-angle lens. It also supports Bokeh effect, Beauty Mode as well as a Multi-Effect filter. It comes with a 3200mAh battery and ships with a USB Type-C port.

In terms of battery, the handset packs a 3100mAh battery and comes with USB Type-C port and supports up to 26W flash charge. The company claims that it gets 50% charge in 25 minutes.

Prices: The miniS is priced at CNY 1,999 (around Rs. 20,000) while the Nubia Z17S has two variants and these are priced as - 8GB RAM with 128GB storage version: CNY 3,999 (approximately Rs. 40,000) and 6GB RAM with 64GB storage variant: CNY 2,999 (around Rs. 30,000). The company has priced the smartphone at 1999 yuan and it will come in Black Gold and Deep Blue colour options.
