Ashish Nehra just doesn't want to lie low in team

Ashish Nehra was recently named in the Indian team for the ongoing T20I series against Australia. "I would not play in the IPL".

"It is my own decision, I have spoken to the team management as well as the chairman of selection committee". He will bow out from the global scene after the first Twenty20 worldwide against New Zealand which is set to be played at his home ground at the Feroz Shah Kotla on November 1. "Since India play their next T20 in Delhi, Nehra prefers to play that match", the official further added. The Delhi pacer who last played in IPL-10 for Sunrisers Hyderabad also confirmed that he will not be playing in the cash-rich league but is open to take up mentoring tasks. Nehra never played an ODI for India after that. "But I train only to play for India and once I retire from global cricket, I will not play in the IPL as well", the left-armer said. On a query whether he would reconsider his decision to retire, Nehraji came up with "Never say Never - I am that sort of player but on this (retirement), once I have decided, there is no going back".

"But that's my decision".

While his worldwide career spans 18 years he was forced to retire from Tests a decade ago and his last ODI was the World Cup 2011 semi-final against Pakistan where he injured his finger and was ruled out of the final. Once I will leave, I will leave.

It's always good to retire when people are asking Why rather than Why Not? We all play together in IPL. "But yes I will always feel good about the fact that the captain always asked me to bowl the last over". As I have said, there are no big (T20) tournaments coming.

"Whatever training I do or wherever I play, the ultimate goal has always been to play for India".

Speaking to media reporters, the 38-year-old left-arm paceman said, "When I was selected for this series, I informed Virat (Kohli) and coach (Ravi) Shastri that I think Bhuvi (Bhuvneshwar Kumar) and (Jasprit) Bumrah are doing really well". One thought that he would like to continue till the home season against Sri Lanka.
