IPhone X Manufacturers Struggling With Facial Recognition Production Issues

IPhone X Manufacturers Struggling With Facial Recognition Production Issues”

In Brightwire's view production of the initial one million units of the iPhone X may not happen until December.

According to a new report from Nikkei, which reiterates points made last month by the WSJ, iPhone X suppliers are continuing to struggle to produce the 3D sensor components used for Apple's new TrueDepth camera system.

The technology firm later unveiled the top-of-the-line flagship with an official release date almost a couple of months after the announcement, anticipatedly because of the issues relating to the mass production and component supplies. Sources suggest that this delay has to do with manufacturers struggling to ideal the dot projector portion of the 3D sensor setup in the iPhone X's sensor array. The dot projector, dubbed Romeo, uses a laser to beam 30,000 infrared dots on the user's face to map their unique traits, while the receiving module is called Juliet.

Rosenblatt research indicates that iPhone X production has recently increased from 100,000 units per week to 400,000 units per week.

The dot projectors, mere accountable for the mass production delays, make up part of the TrueDepth Camera System on front panel of the device.

The Centrio News reported earlier this week that Kuo noted that Apple purportedly stumbled on some speed wallops with the TrueDepth Camera System component due to the intricacy of the supplies required.

iPhone X features the new A11 Bionic chip with a special neural engine that helps power Face ID which unlocks the device by taking a 3D scan of the users face. As it stands now, iPhone X pre-orders are still on track to open up on October 27 with deliveries expected to arrive on November 3. Kuo said Apple may not have enough iPhone Xs to go around when it launches, especially since consumers are overlooking the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus for the 10th anniversary device. The 10th anniversary device will be offered in 64GB and 256GB starting at $999.
