John Calipari frustrated by Federal Bureau of Investigation questions on "Media Day, not Coach Day"

John Calipari frustrated by Federal Bureau of Investigation questions on

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Kentucky coach John Calipari called the current college basketball scandal a "black eye" at the Wildcats' media day on Thursday.

As Jerry Tipton of the Lexington Herald-Leader asked a question on the topic of the Federal Bureau of Investigation after that request, Calipari pointed to another reporter who had a question, signaling to get their question instead of the first one. Tipton, still holding the microphone, replied that, "This is a media day, not coach day".

"I am entitled to ask a question", Tipton continued. Tipton wanted to see if Calipari had any reassurance for Kentucky supporters who could be nervous of wrongdoing.

Calipari: Well again, you're acting like you know something that I don't know.

It only gets better from there as Calipari looks somewhat befuzzled that the reporter bit back at him.

He then reluctantly said this about any potential involvement by the University of Kentucky and Nike.

Though Calipari conceded to let Tipton ask his question, he didn't answer it. Calipari snapped back and said, "We don't even know if what you're saying is true". I have no comment to it. I mean, we haven't been contacted.

After several questions of a similar nature, Calipari began trying to wave off questions on that subject to transition to this year's basketball team. "How about a basketball question, since it isn't "my day"?" Credit to Tipton for insisting on asking his question.

Calipari better hope his program doesn't become implicated in the corruption scandal the FBI is investigating, because if it does he will probably have to answer more than a few questions about it.
