Hundreds walk to fight breast cancer in downtown Eau Claire

Hundreds walk to fight breast cancer in downtown Eau Claire”

About 40 teams walked to raise money for American Cancer Society.

Next year we hope to expand our efforts at MU and look forward to helping even more young people become aware of how they can play a role in their own life to prevent breast cancer. Unfortunately, with cancer as common as it is, organizers say that holding events like the making strides walk is something that needs to be done. "Today is just really about celebrating our survivors, remembering those we lost, and fighting back for those who have yet to be diagnosed with breast cancer".

Additionally, the Lufkin News will sell breast cancer support ads at discounted rates, and 20 percent of breast cancer advertising revenue will also be donated to the local American Cancer Society.

The walk started at the Alex Duffy Fairgrounds.

Organizers say a year ago, more than 13,000 participants took part in the walk, raising more than half a million dollars to be invested in groundbreaking research.
