Record Alert: Australian cricketer hammers 40 sixes in an innings of 307”

Josh Dunston, a powerfully built batsman from the West Augusta club, smashed 40 sixes in a whirlwind knock on a day where the next best score was 18.

A B-Grade cricketer from South Australia has produced one of the all-time great knocks, belting 40 sixes as he scored 86 per cent of his side's total runs.

When Josh Dunstan strolled to the crease for West Augusta in their B grade clash with Central Stirling at the weekend, they were in a modicum of difficulty at 1-10.

Dunstan contributed to 86.72 per cent of his team's total in a frenetic innings. This meant that he had scored 69.48 percent of his team's total. Other than Augusta, just one other batsman could score in double digits while six batsmen recorded ducks.

There were unconfirmed reports Dunstan was dropped early in the innings, but the alleged culprit remains in hiding.

"It hasn't sunk in yet - I'm actually in shock still", Dunstan was quoted as saying by adelaidenow.com.au. I got to 100 and the boys were cheering me on. Also, five of Dunstan's teammates were back to the pavilion without getting off the mark. "I think I owe Bannerman a carton".

When I was walking off, everyone was clapping me so I felt a bit embarrassed.

To highlight the enormity of his feat, Viv Richard's ODI record for the highest percentage of runs in an innings, a record that has stood for 33 years is now shattered.
