Pulev Pulls Put Of Joshua Fight - Last Minute Replacement Arranged

Pulev Pulls Put Of Joshua Fight - Last Minute Replacement Arranged”

ANTHONY JOSHUA's world title defence next week could be OFF after a shock training injury to his opponent Kubrat Pulev.

Once Pulev has signed on the dotted line, Hearn shrewdly sorted out a second deal with next in line Carlos Takam, just in case the Bulgarian was unable to compete. Pulev would lose his mandatory position.

"I received a call from Kalle Sauerland late afternoon to inform me that Pulev had injured his shoulder and maybe ruled out of the fight - this was later confirmed by his doctor", said Hearn, as per boxingscene.com. Joshua has made no secret of his desire to fight Whyte again but presumably with greater notice that would be a bigger fight down the line.

Joshua has not fought since he and Wladimir Klitschko went through 11 rounds of heart-stopping, hard-hitting boxing in April.

World Boxing News report via a Bulgarian journalist claims a partial pectoral tear suffered on October 6th but unreported to Eddie Hearn since then will force the IBF mandatory challenger to back out of the fight.

The bout is scheduled for 28 October at Cardiff's Principality Stadium, with more than 70,000 tickets already sold.

He is 36 and has a record of 35 wins, three defeats and one draw, and this will be his first full heavyweight title fight. "When I called them this evening they were overjoyed and good to go".

Hearn says "it's a hard position for AJ".
