Arsenal don't have cojones, Deeney tells Arsene Wenger

Arsenal don't have cojones, Deeney tells Arsene Wenger”

The Brazilian was accused of conning the referee when he won a crucial penalty in the Hornet's 2-1 victory on Saturday.

"I would say it was not a penalty".

"I don't want to interfere with referee's decisions".

"It is a scandalous decision".

Watford, who finished 17th last season, now sit fourth in the Premier League table after earning four wins and three draws in eight games under new boss Marco Silva.

While Arsène Wenger, the Arsenal manager, blamed the referee's decision to award a penalty as the most significant moment of the match, Deeney said it was more about Arsenal's lack of bottle.

"As as a manager he's got that flawless balance of having a fear factor and being approachable at the same time", said the midfielder.

The problem, Deeney thinks, is that Arsenal don't fancy it when the going gets tough.

Deeney is not the first person to question Arsenal.

I came on today and jumped up with Mertesacker - I didn't even have to jump, actually - I nodded it down, the crowd gets up: 'Yeah we've got somebody who can win it, ' and they all just backed off.

"For me as a player I just think, "Happy days".

Chelsea suffered a loss by the same scoreline to bottom-placed Crystal Palace on the same day, meanwhile, and Cleverley believes that Watford can now inflict further misery on the defending champions. Arsenal, meanwhile, are already nine points behind league leaders Manchester City after suffering their first league defeat since their 4-0 capitulation against Liverpool in August.

Martin Keown, interviewing Deeney and a former Arsenal defender noted for his commitment, said his "blood would be boiling" if he were a current player listening to Deeney's analysis.

"I feel he (Ozil) was at fault for the late goal conceded", he told BT Sport.

"He's just missed an opportunity to win the game for Arsenal and everything that happens afterwards wouldn't have happened".

"I don't really know because everybody is shocked in the dressing room [about the result]".
