Google's animated doodle celebrates 66th anniversary of Studio for Electronic Music

Google whipped out yet another bright and attractive new doodle on Wednesday, this time to celebrate the 66th anniversary of Studio for Electronic Music. Known as the first modern music studio, the Studio for Electronic Music roots can be traced back to 66 years to the German city of Cologne.

The famous logo has been transformed into a colourful animation of the Studio for Electronic Music, the place where artists mixed electronically synthesised sounds into a new genre of music. These instruments were precursors to the modern synthesiser, and the studio's progressive example made way for pioneering German krautrock bands from Kraftwerk to Can. The search engine giant, Google, paid tributes to Latin music icon Selena Quintanilla with a special doodle on Tuesday celebrating her music and legacy.

Electronic music was a completely new phenomenon that had only been discussed among musical academics and was far from present in popular culture.

Composers Meyer-Eppler, Robert Beyer, and Herbert Eimert were the first musicians to conceptualise the "technical requirements". It was essentially a breeding haven for musical innovation.

Desperate to overcome the technological constraints of the time, the musicians developed new equipment capable of mixing beats and sounds electronically. The original studio continued to create unique tracks and produce breakthroughs music until the year 2000.

Google, now boasts of 4.6 billion users in 160 countries who use the website in 123 languages.
