Ronald Koeman: I have 'total support' from the Everton board”

Ronald Koeman has urged Everton to focus on getting three points in their Europa League match with Lyon as they look to move off the bottom of Group E.

The Everton major shareholder Farhad Moshiri and the chairman Bill Kenwright visited the club's Finch Farm training headquarters last Friday to see improvements to the facility, but also rallied behind Koeman as he struggles to find a winning formula.

Moshiri said earlier this month that Koeman had his "total support" and while the Everton manager believes that is the case, he is not getting complacent.

"Yes, he was here but it was not only Farhad Moshiri", Koeman said.

"He [Moshiri] was here but not only him, Bill was here and others from the board because they had not yet seen the new building at Finch Farm", Koeman said in a pre-match press conference."You speak about football of course".

"Everyone knows the manager's job is a really hard job because things change really fast".

In football that's a nice thing but in football it's all about results.

"If you are a long time in football maybe you know better about this situation but for now it's full, total support from the board".

Everton face Lyon, Arsenal, Chelsea and Leicester in their next quartet of games.

The Foxes sit just two places and two points behind Everton in the table but it was not good enough for their Thai owners who dismissed Claudio Ranieri's successor yesterday. Most of the time the manager doesn't get time to improve the team. I feel sorry for Craig because I think he did a really got job taking over from Ranieri and he kept them in the Premier League last season.

People are linking him with the Holland job and then there's people looking at his lifestyle, and whether he's taken to living in Merseyside.

That's a shame but not really a surprise from a board that has very little ambition.

They have also struggled in Europe, failing to win either of their first two group games against Apollon Limassol (2-2) and Atalanta (0-3), despite spending huge sums of money on new players during the summer.
