Newborn's dad sold heroin in hospital maternity ward

Cody Hulse, 25, is charged with drug and drug paraphernalia possession, heroin delivery and endangering the welfare of a child.

The local Tribune-Review reported that Hulse was arraigned on Friday 20 October having been arrested on Thursday 19 October at Excela Health Westmoreland in Greensburg, where he was allegedly selling drugs to visitors just hours after his daughter was born. The Tribune-review reported that Hulse muttered that it was "ridiculous" when told the amount at his arraignment.

Hulse got busted after Greensburg police stopped a vehicle Thursday and found heroin and paraphernalia, authorities say.

Hulse told them he sold drugs to several people who had visited the room earlier that day.

Police took Hulse into custody, and while searching him found 34 bags of suspected heroin, hypodermic needles and other drug paraphernalia in a black, zip bag in his trousers pocket.

Online court records don't list a defense attorney. His bail was set at $100,000 (£75,000). On Facebook, some people who are close to Hulse had harsh words to say including, "I'm sure your kids will be real proud of you".

Hulse's girlfriend and the girlfriend's mother both said they did not know he had heroin in the room.
