O'Reilly Struck $32M Settlement In January Over Harassment Allegations”

21st Century Fox was back on the defensive Saturday after the New York Times revealed a new sexual harassment settlement involving former Fox News star Bill O'Reilly that was set just a month before the company signed O'Reilly to a lucrative new contract.

"Although the deal has not been previously made public, the network's parent company, 21st Century Fox, acknowledges that it was aware of the woman's complaints about Mr. O'Reilly", the Times reported.

In a lengthy statement, Fox News parent company 21st Century Fox defended the decision despite the company's awareness of O'Reilly's personal settlement with Wiehl.

O'Reilly was sacked by Fox News in April following the Times' report that he had been involved in settlements of harassment and sexual harassment claims with five women totaling $13 million, dating back to 2002. 21st Century Fox confirmed the settlement to the Times but wouldn't speak to the dollar amount.

The complaint contained allegations of sexual harassment and a nonconsensual sexual relationship with O'Reilly, according to the Times, and was settled for $32 million in January. He later said he had been a good mentor to women while at Fox.

O'Reilly, in a combative interview with the Times, insisted he had done nothing wrong and only settled to spare his children from the publicity surrounding a trial.

"If you look at the totality, this was a hit job - a political and financial hit job", he told "TODAY."

O'Reilly was ultimately ousted from the network in April, following an exodus of advertisers from his show's time slot.

O'Reilly was sacked in April after it was revealed he had paid out $13 million to five women to settle other sexual harassment allegations.

Multiple other women accused O'Reilly of sexual harassment after the report was published.

Bill O'Reilly was sacked from Fox in April.

In an internal memo obtained by Business Insider, Murdoch and his sons, Lachlan and James, said that "after a thorough and careful review of allegations against him, the company and Bill O'Reilly have agreed that Mr. O'Reilly will not return to the Fox News Channel".
