West Indies bats in opening test vs. Zimbabwe”

West Indies won the toss and will bat in the first of two tests against Zimbabwe at Queens Sports Club on Saturday. The focus will be on Brendan Taylor and Kyle Jarvis, both of whom are making a return to worldwide cricket after spending time in the County circuit.

Taylor, who last played worldwide cricket at the 2015 World Cup, opted out of his Kolpak deal with Nottinghamshire towards the end of the recent county season and ended up signing a contract with Zimbabwe Cricket.

Chairman of the selectors Courtney Browne said the selection panel has agreed to send the same Test squad that toured England to visit Zimbabwe. The West Indians selected the same team that finished that series.

Prior to his resignation, Taylor was the team's leading run scorer with 433 runs at an average of 72.16 scoring two centuries against Ireland and India in Zimbabwe's last two matches of the 2015 Wold Cup jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand.

The first Test begins on October 21 and the second Test from October 29 - Nov.2 at the Queen's Sports Club in Bulawayo.

Zimbabwe: Hamilton Masakadza, Solomon Mire, Brendan Taylor, Craig Ervine, Sean Williams, Sikandar Raza, Malcolm Waller, Regis Chakabva (wk), Graeme Cremer (capt), Kyle Jarvis, Chris Mpofu.

West Indies: Kraigg Brathwaite, Kieran Powell, Kyle Hope, Shai Hope, Roston Chase, Jermaine Blackwood, Shane Dowrich (wk), Jason Holder (capt), Devendra Bishoo, Kemar Roach, Shannon Gabriel.
