Gemma Collins just fell down a giant hole on live TV”

Gemma Collins launched a thousand memes after she fell down a hole on stage at the Radio 1 Teen Awards.

She opened the envelope and announced the victor was Love Island, sparking the usual screams from fans, loud music playing and lights dancing across the stage. After announcing that Love Island had won the award, the 35-year-old stepped sideways and fell through the trapdoor, crashing into the emerging Love Island cast before disappearing entirely beneath the stage.

But things took a turn for the worse, as Gemma Collins didn't realise that the islanders would be appearing on stage from a rising hole in the ground - and fell right into it in front of the nation. "This is live, this is what happens".

They flocked to her account to wish her well.

All started off well, and Gemma beamed as she appeared on stage to present the Radio 1 Teen Award for Best TV Show.

Love Island star Marcel Somerville also tweeted about the amusing incident, saying: "When you win best TV at the #R1TeenAwards and save #gemmacollins foot and hand from be crushed #herolife".

But it appears Gemma escaped unscathed from the incident - minus a bruised ego - as she took to Twitter to assure her fans that she was OK.

According to Metro, she later told Grimshaw and Ora: "Apart from just stacking it on stage, I'm having the best time of my life".
