Tesla rapidly installs solar power at a children's hospital in Puerto Rico”

After Tesla CEO Elon Musk promised earlier this month to help restore power in Puerto Rico, the company has brought electricity back to a hospital on the island, which was recently battered by Hurricane Maria. It had been without power since September 20, when Hurricane Maria slammed into the USA territory as a Category 4 storm. As of today (24 October) 23% of Puerto Rico's power has been restored, with companies such as Tesla sending hundreds of battery systems to the island to be paired with solar generators.

Earlier this month, Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted that the electric vehicle company's battery technology could help Puerto Rico rebuild after Hurricane Maria, which left millions of citizens struggling without basic necessities.

Tesla's first microgrid project in the U.S. territory will be at Hospital del Niño, the company announced on Tuesday on Twitter. The photos show a large solar panel field in what appears to be the parking lot of the building while another image shows cranes hoisting several energy-storage Powerpacks, a commercial version of the company's sleeker Powerwall.

Tesla will use its batteries and solar panels to restore power to Hospital del Niño, a children's hospital in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

As 85 percent of the island remains without power, Puerto Rican officials say it could take up to six months before its power grid is fully repaired.

But Tesla said it's the "first of many" projects to come, so we can expect other microgrids to crop up around the island soon.

In response, Puerto Rico Governor Ricardo Rossello responded to Musk, saying "let's talk".
