Uber Driver Injured in Bay Area Gun Battleā€

A woman driving for a ride hailing service was injured in a shooting late Sunday night on Interstate 380 in San Bruno, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Two Bay Area Uber drivers have been shot in recent days, one the victim of an attempted robbery and the other while shuttling passengers from San Francisco International Airport. Unfortunately the driver was struck, but fortunately suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Westbound 380 was closed for almost five hours as police investigated the shooting, a crime scene that "stretched almost a mile long", ABC 7 reports.

Officers do not believe anyone was shot in the second vehicle hit by gunfire.

CHP Officer Vu Williams said they were investigating the shooting.

Westbound traffic on Highway 380 was shut down for more than four hours, Williams said.

On Oct. 8, an Uber driver and two passengers were hospitalized after someone in another auto opened fire on Interstate 880 in Oakland in what CHP investigators described as a "targeted attack".

Police say he was an Uber driver.

CHP officers responded around 4:15 a.m.to reports of a shooting in the southbound lanes of the freeway near 23rd Avenue, said CHP Sgt. Robert Nacke. It is not known why they were shot although the driver is was not the original target.
