Warriors' Stephen Curry consoles Mavericks guard's grieving nephew

Warriors' Stephen Curry consoles Mavericks guard's grieving nephew”

ABC 7 says that the throw happened late in the fourth quarter, and after Curry was ejected, the Warriors would go on to lose the game, 111 to 101.

While relieved he was able to play Monday in what would ultimately become a 30-point win over the Dallas Mavericks, Curry himself is surprised by the amount of said fine.

All told, it was a pretty big spectacle, one that would later lead the Chron's Scott Ostler to write that it was tough to watch "The Warriors as spoiled kids", calling for "Less squawk, more rock".

The Warriors beat the Mavs 133-103, as Curry scored 29 points.

Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry has been fined 50,000 U.S. dollars for throwing his mouthpiece in the direction of a game official, it was announced on Monday by Kiki VanDeWeghe, NBA's executive vice president.

"It's an expensive mouthpiece toss". He was immediately ejected.

As part of the same incident, Warriors forward Andre Iguodala has been fined 15,000 USA dollars for verbally abusing a game official. He remained on indefinite leave from the Mavs, but chose to watch the game from the sidelines to give his nephew some comfort in watching his favorite player up close. After the game, Curry told reporters what he said to the grieving child.

Before the game, Curry spent some time with Brayden. "At the end of the day, it's not about the money, it's about me not doing stupid stuff and losing my cool like that", Curry said, via ESPN.

This isn't the first time the two-time MVP victor has been fined for this type of incident, as he was handed a $25,000 fine for tossing a mouth guard into the stands during the 2016 NBA Finals. Curry, who occasionally tosses his mouthpiece to the hardwood when upset, realizes that if another incident arises, he could face a heftier fine or even possibly a suspension. "I'm actually glad I got to play, but I wish I had that money back".
