Parker to warm up in G-League before coming back to Spurs

Parker to warm up in G-League before coming back to Spurs”

When Parker does return, it will be his 17th season both in the National Basketball Association and with the Spurs. The next phase in that process may involve some rehab work in the G League.

Murray has been the starter at point guard while Parker recovers from surgery to fix the torn left quadriceps he suffered in the playoffs in May.

Tony Parker is taking another step toward returning to the San Antonio lineup.

The Spurs are in no rush for Parker to return, so it's possible Murray's play could allow the club to be even more patient with Parker's rehabilitation.

Back in May Parker said he was going to "work out like a madman and come back stronger than ever" after suffering the season-ending injury in the National Basketball Association playoffs last season.

Doctors cleared Parker in September, but the Spurs take a cautious approach when bringing the player back from injury.

The Spurs' point guard, who hasn't played since rupturing a tendon in his left quadriceps during last season's Western Conference semifinals, practiced Wednesday in San Antonio with the team's G League affiliate. The initial timeline for return was January, but that could be moved up should his rehab go well. "He (Tony Parker) obviously had a tough injury past year but he's recovering. You'll probably be seeing Tony playing a lot sooner than what most people expect him to be back by".
