Refreshed Citroen C4 Cactus Gains Hydraulic Suspension For A Smoother Ride

Sweeping changes to the exterior see the polarising plastic AirBumps of the doors and front and rear bumpers either minimised or deleted completely. The company is also dropping the crossover credentials, calling the New C4 Cactus (as is the denomination) a true compact hatchback.

The Citroen C4 Cactus gets a facelift, delivering what looks a more mainstream vehicle with more conventional looks, new engines and new technology. Previous styling treatments including the floating C-pillar and visor-style A-pillar have been left untouched.

Inside, the C4 Cactus has Citroën Advanced Comfort programme, is the first model in Europe to feature the suspension with progressive hydraulic cushions (PHC), and the first vehicle in the world to boast "advanced comfort" seats. At the same time, the front seats have been fitted with a new type of foam, which is claimed to be more comfortable, while three of the five "ambiences" come with "Advanced Comfort seats".

The C4 Cactus will be the first model to feature this new tech, although it's more than likely it'll become a feature on other Citroens too.

Customisation will remain a strong point for the C4 Cactus with five interior colour schemes available and 31 possible exterior colour combinations via nine paint colours and four exterior highlight colour packs.

Inside, the upgrades include the mirror screen function with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and MirrorLink connectivity, navi system, emergency geolocation call and assistance service, as well as active safety brake, speed limit recognition, lane departure warning, coffee break alert, driver attention alert, blind spot monitoring, park assist, hill start assist, a reverse camera, static cornering lights, grip control, and keyless start and access. Alongside the previously available PureTech 110 and 82 petrols, from launch the BlueHDi 100S&S is expected to be the sole diesel offering until late 2018, when the BlueHDi 120S&S version will be added with the six-speed EAT6 automated manual transmission as standard. With the C3 Aircross arriving before then to fill the small SUV space.
