Russian Federation launches ballistic missiles from submarines, spaceport during strategic drills”

Russian Defense Ministry announced that the armed forces successfully launched four ballistic missiles and hit targets as part of the large-scale war games involving the country's strategic forces.

In early September, Russia test fired two more next-generation nuclear missiles, named Topol, from the Plestek Cosmodrome.

Topol-M missile launchers are seen in Red Square in Moscow during the Victory Day parade May 9, 2009. The Plesetsk space center is located in Arkhangelsk Oblast, approximately 800 kilometers north of Moscow.

The Sarmat next generation intercontinental ballistic missile can "beat any defences" and wipe out entire countries, according to Russia's military.

It said two submarines, one from the Northern Fleet and another from the Pacific Fleet fired three missiles. Just $5 a month.

"A squad of the Strategic Missile Force fired a Topol intercontinental ballistic missile from Plesetsk towards the Kura test range in Kamchatka", the report said.

A third missile was sacked from the Barents Sea, in the Arctic Ocean.

The rocket, also known as RS-28 Sarmat, was sacked from the Plestek Cosmodrome and travelled 3,600 miles before hitting a target on the Kura test range.

The ministry stated that the Russian Tu-160, Tu-95MS and Tu-22M3 long-range strategic bombers successfully launched cruise missiles at targets placed at test grounds in Russia and in Kazakhstan, thus concluding the military exercise on a successful note. It also did not specify the class of ballistic missile submarines involved in the drill.

Unlike the Topol, which is a single-warhead weapon, the Yars is believed to carry multiple warheads and have a much greater range than its predecessor. The Yars, reportedly fitted with more advanced decoys and countermeasures than the Topol-M and featuring a higher speed, has been specifically created to evade Western anti-ballistic missile defense systems.
