Brandon Peters shines for MI after replacing John O'Korn”

Early in the second quarter of his team's game against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, Jim Harbaugh replaced incumbent quarterback John O'Korn with backup Brandon Peters - a decision that paid off nearly instantly.

That change many of you have been clamoring for finally happened.

Peters then proceeded to lead two scoring drives and give the Wolverines a 21-7 halftime lead. He threw his first touchdown pass later in the quarter, a 20-yarder to running back Chris Evans, for his first collegiate touchdown.

After fifth-year senior quarterback John O'Korn started three-for-six with an interception, he was benched in favor of Peters. Gus Edwards rushed for a 74-yard touchdown en route to a career-high 94 yards as Rutgers ran the ball on 67.2 percent of its offensive plays against the Boilermakers.

The Scarlet Knights have lost 19 straight games to ranked opponents, including a demoralizing 78-0 defeat to MI last season, but hope to extend their conference winning streak to three games for the first time in five years, when they were a member of the Big East.

The change marks the third different quarterback MI has turned to this season, after starter junior starter Wilton Speight was sidelined with fractured vertebrae. The youngster took advantage of the opportunity by leading the Wolverines one three consecutive touchdown drives (at the time of publish) to put MI up 28-7 in the 3rd quarter.
