Amazon Now Teasing Audible Audiobook Support on $79 Kindle

Amazon Now Teasing Audible Audiobook Support on $79 Kindle”

As with the Oasis, you'll need Bluetooth speakers or headphones to listen in, because the Kindles don't have a 3.5mm headphone jack or built-in speakers. According to Kindle's product page, the USA -based e-commerce giant is looking to this to its cheapest model of kindles in months to come, along the lines of the offerings of Oasis, reports The Verge. If you're up for a vacation and would like a Kindle with Audible support, you can get Amazon's new Kindle Oasis. This feature was dropped from later models as they lost support for audio, but now Amazon is bringing it back.

So while the basic Kindle could certainly function as an audiobook player, you would be better off using some other device. Kindle's basic e-reader has far fewer features as compared to Oasis which is a rather premium model. Amazon is planning to integrate Audible, its digital audiobooks store, on its cheapest e-reader.

The device is one of the most sold Kindle products as well given its pocket-friendly price and form factor.

The update to support Audible will be provided via a free over-the-air update in coming months. Also, the increase in popularity of the audiobooks also speaks for itself. Amazon is not only preparing itself for the future but probably aims to get an insight on the usage of Audible.
