Oakland A's Bruce Maxwell made anti-police statements during arrest”

Oakland Athletics catcher Bruce Maxwell allegedly displayed signs and symptoms of alcohol intoxication after he reportedly pointed a gun at a delivery driver's head in Scottsdale on Saturday night. The arrest photo of Oakland Athletics catcher Bruce Maxwell.

Officers took Maxwell into custody at his home near Hayden and Camelback roads after they received a report that he pointed a gun at a female food delivery driver.

Court records released Monday provide more details on his arrest, but don't offer an explanation for why he allegedly pointed the gun at the driver.

The driver became frightened, handed the food over to Maxwell at the doorstep and left.

According to court documents, Maxwell admitted to un-holstering his gun but then denied it, also denying pointing the gun at the victim.

Maxwell was booked on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and disorderly conduct.

After the interaction, the delivery driver returned to her vehicle and immediately called the police, who arrived on the scene at around 6 p.m., according to AZCentral, finding Maxwell, who exhibited signs of intoxication including a heavy alcohol scent on his breath, in possession of a silver 9-mm handgun.

Maxwell was reportedly released from jail on $10,000 bail and is set to appear in court on November 8.

"We were disappointed to learn of the allegations".

The 26-year-old Maxwell hit.237 with three home runs and 22 RBIs in 76 games this season, and analysts projected him to be Oakland's starting catcher next year.

KRON 4 says that Maxwell was projected to be the A's starting catcher for the upcoming Major League Baseball season.
