AT&T expands partnership on business cloud networking products with AWS”

For much of the last two years, Amazon Web Services - the company's cloud computing unit - has accounted for a sizeable chunk of Amazon's overall profits. AWS customers using AT&T connectivity can now have highly secure, flexible connectivity options to serve their cloud, cybersecurity and mobility needs. These products can help customers mobilise their workforce to support the digital age, the company said in a press release.

"Many of our customers are on their journey to the cloud with AWS", said Roman Pacewicz, chief product officer, AT&T Business. "No matter where they are in that transition or how they want to get there, AT&T has it covered".

While public internet connections are the most common way businesses connect to their cloud applications, the unpredictable nature of the internet not only raises network latency, but also potential security concerns.

FlexWare: AT&T is expanding the reach of how AWS customers can access the cloud more securely.

BT and AWS will also work together on a comprehensive approach to security, enabling customers to extend their existing security controls to the cloud, supporting customers with their growing compliance requirements, which from May 2018 will also include the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Consequently it will ensure that businesses enjoy edge computing with more agility.

The quarterly revenue reports from AWS and others underscore the steady growth of cloud infrastructure services as enterprises large and small move to the cloud and hedge their bets with multi-cloud deployments aimed at avoiding vendor lock-in.

On the issue of cybersecurity, AT&T has introduced Threat Manager which makes it possible for customers of Amazon Web Services to identify data patterns proactively. The technology has the ability to process 5 billion security events in only 10 minutes. The kit lets developers build their own solutions using AT&T IoT and AWS IoT.

BT will also make a catalogue of embedded network security, anti-DDoS [distributed denial of service] and threat intelligence products available on the AWS Marketplace, potentially exposing them to a wider audience.

"Achieving the AWS Financial Services Competency differentiates Xignite as an AWS Partner Network (APN) member that has demonstrated relevant technical proficiency and proven customer success, delivering solutions seamlessly in the AWS Cloud environment". AT&T helps customers select cloud solutions for their business. Customers can even have AT&T facilitate moving their data. "We can offer customers a highly secure, cloud optimized networking environment".
