England's Ashes squad agree to 'sensible rulings' on drinking”

England players have agreed "sensible" rules for drinking on the Ashes tour of Australia but there will be no curfews, says coach Trevor Bayliss.

England will nearly certainly have to do so without Ben Stokes, still waiting back home to hear whether he will face charges as he remains under investigation by Avon & Somerset Police after being arrested last month on suspicion of causing actually bodily harm.

A Cricket Discipline Commission inquiry will follow, under England and Wales Cricket Board policy, all of which indicates a timeline to prevent Stokes joining the 16-man squad at any point during a series which ends in Sydney on January 8.

"I've been on a plane for about half of that [past month], backwards and forwards to England", he told the BBC's Test Match Special. I suppose that comes with the territory.

"It's a month ago now, and certainly the guys here in Australia have gone about their business and there hasn't really been chat about it all", he said. There's going to be tough times - a bit of pace maybe - but nothing we haven't dealt with before and that we can't deal with. "We're very confident with the group of guys we've got here that we can get a series win".

Vince was critical of the absence of all-rounder Ben Stokes who will be in England for the pending invenstigation regarding the Bristol incident.

"I know that it sounds so stupid, but if you go and get hammered as a team on a night out - as senior and junior players - the bonds you can create there are better than any ridiculous sessions you can do in the forest in Germany".

The players themselves have worked out if they need to do anything differently off the pitch.

Bayliss said: "There's been no set curfews".

Vince, pencilled in as England's number three here unless captain Joe Root thinks again about his own promotion back up the order, mustered an average of just 19.27 in seven home Tests before he was dropped previous year.

"To me, not drinking in-between matches is just sensible".

England squad has players who have never played in Australia and when they landed in Perth, Australian press failed to recognise them.

Prior to flying down under, captain Joe Root denied there is a drinking culture in the team.

He added: "We certainly don't want to put too many curfews on them that keep them in their rooms".

"When we had the great tour Down Under in 2010-11, we had the most incredible couple of nights out at the start of that tour, which brought the team so close together", Pietersen said.

"If you get yourself in past the new ball there is runs to be scored".
