United States sanctions lead Moscow-Washington relations into dead end - snr Russian diplomat

United States sanctions lead Moscow-Washington relations into dead end - snr Russian diplomat”

Facebook says a Russian group posted more than 80,000 times on its network during and after the 2016 election, potentially reaching as many as 126 million users.

Ryabkov also told reporters that he considered the recent anti-Russian accusations made by Twitter, Facebook and Google a result of pressure on the side of the United States authorities.

Facebook says a group from Russian Federation, called the Internet Research Agency, used their platform to post more than 80,000 times both before and after the election.

"I am surprised at these Internet giants saying one day that, let's say, 5,000 dollars was spent on some political advertising, and the next day they say that 40 million US citizens, voters turned out to be under the influence of some Russian social and political ads", Ryabkov told reporters.

The content may have reached almost 126 million people total, through shared posts and "liked" ads.

Twitter says its investigation has found almost 37,000 accounts linked to Russian entities in the lead up to election day.

Both companies say the problem is a global threat which may involve other countries aside from Russian Federation.

The company plans to disclose these numbers to the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday, according to a person familiar with the testimony.
