ISIS propagandist who once lived in NYC extradited to US”

Seven months later, with Kandic's encouragement, Bilardi volunteered as a suicide bomber and blew himself up in an attack in Ramadi, Iraq, according to the US indictment.

Misrad Kandic, 36, pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in Brooklyn federal court Wednesday afternoon following his extradition to the US from Bosnia's capital city of Sarajevo Tuesday night.

Later that same day Kandic allegedly praised the attack with the Twitter message: 'Australian citizen Jake Bilardi aka Abu Abdullah carried the martyrdom operation in #Ramadi, #Iraq.

Kandic is also facing five counts of providing or attempting to provide material support and resources to ISIS, including personnel, equipment and false documentation and identification, including one count resulting in death.

'Kandic is now back in NY, no longer living freely among us, but rather in federal custody to face justice'.

In a recorded voice memo from Kandic to an associate, Kandic stated, "I have a lot of Mujahideen in Europe, a lot", and "I sent out over 20,000 Sham".

"May Allah reward you immensely", Kandic allegedly replied, later adding, "May Allah make there (sic) inner organs implode". "Sham" is frequently used by ISIL members to refer to the region of the Levant, including Syria.

'The defendant encouraged Bilardi to commit violent attacks including suicide attacks, ' the USA government's detention memorandum submitted to the District Court in NY states. Kandic publicized the attack via Twitter.

A lawyer representing Kandic, James Branden, declined to comment, saying he had not yet had time to review the case. He could face life in prison if convicted. His client pleaded not guilty in Brooklyn and was detained without bail.

Authorities say Kandic is a legal US resident who lived in Brooklyn and the Bronx before traveling to Istanbul, Turkey, in 2013 to join the Islamic State.

Kandic was a legal USA resident who lived in Brooklyn, New York before travelling to Istanbul in 2013 to join IS, prosecutors said.

"By late 2013, the defendant began trying to realize those objectives", prosecutors wrote.

Kandic communicated with potential recruits largely through more than 100 Twitter accounts he controlled, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors said Kandic managed to leave the United States for the Middle-East in 2013 despite being on the USA government's no-fly list and became a key member of ISIS' "media department".

Kandic allegedly became a recruiter for the terror group and was in contact with jihadists across the globe.

Last week, a USA citizen from Virginia was sentenced to 20 years for going to Raqqa in Syria to fight with IS.

A government detention memo listed deadly attacks carried out by ISIL supporters, including 2015 shootings in Garland, Texas, and San Bernardino, California, along with a June 2016 nightclub shooting in Orlando, Florida, and numerous attacks overseas, but there was no mention of a truck that swerved through a bike lane in Manhattan pn October 31, killing eight people.
