MainaGate: Abba Kyari, Oyo-Ita In Heated Argument Over Buhari's Indictment”

LEADERSHIP recalls that in a leaked memo, the Head of Service had said President Buhari is aware of the reinstatement of a former Chairman of the Pension Reforms Commission, Mallam Abdulrasheed Maina, into the civil service.

Following her perceived accusation by Kyari in the council chamber, Oyo-Ita in sheer display of audacity, confronted Kyari in a visibly angry manner, stating that she had attained the peak of her career as a civil servant and had no reason to fear anything because she is neither a politician nor an elected representative.

The heated exchange which lasted for about ten minutes, was witnessed by all those who were in the council chambers for the twin ceremony of the swearing-in of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, the launch 2018 armed forces emblem and the council members who were seated for the Federal Executive Council meeting.

Both officials accused one another as being responsible for the leak.

In the video, the two can be seen arguing at the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meteting, as the vice-president Yemi Osinbajo looks on.

The memo is believed to have been leaked. It was a gory sight, seeing the two officials nearly fighting at the Council Chambers. "It was apparent that none of them had faith in each other".

The memo cast doubt on the presidency's public stance that it was unaware of Maina's reinstatement as he was promptly fired by the president on October 23 after public condemnation.

President Buhari ordered Maina's "disengagement" and directed Oyo-Ita to provide a comprehensive report to explain the circumstances of his recall.

The subpoena was issued by the court for him to give evidence in the trial of former National Publicity Secretary of the People Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Olisah Metuh, over N400 million corruption charges.

Maina was arraigned in absentia by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which declared him wanted in 2015.
