The sandwich was last sold in restaurants in December 2016 and was first sold 25 years ago and it has a loyal following.

In Southern California, it often shows up around the holidays when diners are looking for a hot meal on a chilly day.

The sandwich includes dill pickles, fresh onions, a barbecue-style sauce and a boneless pork patty on a toasted-hoagie-style bun.

Whether you love it, hate it, can't stand it, or can't get enough of it, one polarizing McDonald's sandwich is sashaying its way back onto select menus.

According to CNNMoney, McDonald's locations in those areas are the only ones promoting the popular sandwich's return.

McDonald's called the McRib an iconic sandwich inspired by the chain's first executive chef.

The McRib has reached cult status in its 35 years of existence.

As of press time, the McRib has been spotted in nearly every state, according to unofficial fan-run McRib Locator website, which tracks sightings of the sandwich in real time.
