Trump seeks death penalty for NY truck attack suspect”

But at some point, Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipov apparently developed a fascination with ISIS.

During his remarks, Trump commented on the recent terror attack in New York City and discussed changing USA immigration laws to possibly prevent future attacks.

- The man who police say transformed a New York City bike path into a terror scene was an Uzbekistan native who made 1,400 trips as an Uber driver and formed two commercial truck businesses. He was shot in the abdomen after he jumped out of the vehicle brandishing air guns and yelling "God is great!" in Arabic, they said.

Authorities said they found a note in the truck pledging loyalty to the Islamic State.

The New Jersey mosque that New York City terror suspect Sayfullo Saipov reportedly attended has been under surveillance by the New York Police Department since 2005, according to a published report. But the suspect is still believed to have acted alone. The 29-year-old was charged Wednesday with terrorism and other crimes.

Authorities say Saipov's online history indicates that he consumed ISIS propaganda, the senior official said. "And at the end, they'll be - who knows what happens", Trump said.

"Law enforcement is following this closely. This a nice neighbourhood", said Mildred Malave, 56, who lives a few blocks north but whose husband works at a recycling company about 30 meters down the street from Saipov's place.

Prosecutors have brought terrorism charges against Saipov.

"Saipov wanted to kill as many people as he could", the complaint states. "I never would've thought this guy would do something violent", Abdusamatov said.

The president however didn't seem to mind and reiterated his call again on Thursday morning.

Saipov's travels from there aren't entirely clear.

According to state records, Sayf Motors is located at an apartment in Cincinnati and the licence remains active. Both listed their birthplace as Tashkant, Uzbekistan.

In the wake of Tuesday's deadly truck attack in Lower Manhattan, police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation swarmed areas in New Jersey to which Saipov was believed to have ties.

Saipov provided an address in St Charles County, Missouri for that traffic violation, which shows the location is registered address for STL Logistics LLC.

Saipov, who used addresses in both Tampa, Florida and most recently Paterson, New Jersey, is out of surgery and in recovery from his injury at a NY hospital. In 1989, Trump took out a full page ad in the New York Daily News calling for the state of New York to reinstate the death penalty after a jogger was brutally beaten and raped in upper Manhattan's Central Park.

An employee at a nearby supermarket told the New York Post that Saipov had been "erratic" and regularly argued with cashiers. Matkarov said he got no sense that Saipov was nurturing a tendency for violence.
